Chamoson is a municipality located in the canton of Valais in the southwestern tip of Switzerland. Nestled at the foot of the Alpine massif, it is framed by dramatic mountain peaks on one side and opens toward green valleys and sunlit slopes on the other. The area offers a host of natural benefits—vine-covered hillsides, thermal springs, breathtaking views, and nearly endless sunny days. All of this, together with the region’s preserved traditional architecture, has inspired the design of this residential project.

Résidence du Soleil is situated on the western edge of the village and is thoughtfully shaped in direct response to its surroundings. The building opens up to the most spectacular views—northern terraces face the rugged mountain ridges, while southern terraces draw panoramic valley vistas directly into the living rooms of the residents. Its archetypal form, reminiscent of traditional Alpine agricultural buildings, allows for optimal use of the sloping terrain while discreetly accommodating 28 apartments and underground parking without disturbing the natural scenery.

The residence comprises 28 apartments of various sizes: 5 studios (1-room units), 11 one-bedroom units (2-room), 6 two-bedroom units (3-room), 6 three-bedroom units (4-room).

.

Four of the 2-room units are designed as maisonettes with an added mezzanine level for sleeping. The emphasis on larger apartments makes the residence ideal for families. A generously planned children's playground is located on the northern part of the property, offering not only space for play but also a landscaped garden for relaxation and a community area with a grill for gatherings.

The building’s form pays homage to traditional mountain architecture and regional materials, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. The façade details are carefully designed, and the overall massing reflects the thoughtful simplicity of Alpine farm structures. While respectful of time-tested traditions, the residence provides highly modern and comfortable living spaces.
