author: David Chromík - CAMA

project: 2009 / realization: 2010
investor: Gemo Olomouc
construction costs: CZK 60 Mio

floor space area: 10 600 m2
architectural volume: 41 397 m3
number of floors/basements: 7+1/1
number of rooms: 137

The ground floor space was designed as an open plan, emphasizing the continuity. The architectural intent is to overlap individual functions and yet maintain their individualization at the same time. Walking into the foyer it offers the visitor complete space scenery. This is partially open to through-views but never in full extent. The visitor perceives contrasts of individual elements, a striking reception, a mellow lobby atmosphere and is visually drawn into the life of the lift hall. A light-weight staircase made from steel and stone is an invitation to the conferential area on the first floor. Other through-views are inviting visitors to the bar and restaurant.

The quantity of impulses is strictly prescribed, the impression is comprehensive, the opportunity to use the ground floor is very tempting. The space is composed in layers, culminating in the interior.
Visual work with the light and material surfaces creates an illusion of more generous proportions and height. The ground floor interior is organic provoking strong impulses and various sensations.
The project won the national prize BUILDING OF THE YEAR 2010.
